Prompt research

Ask the questions
your customers would ask.

A visibility check is only as useful as the questions behind it. Build a relevant set around your services, locations and the decisions people make before choosing you.

What you can learn. What you can do.

01

Start with the customer’s situation

A useful question describes something your business can help with. It might ask for a local provider, compare approaches or explore whether a service suits a particular need. Use the business brief, services and market as the starting point. Avoid a list made entirely of questions that already contain your brand name if your goal is to understand discovery.

02

Review suggestions before adding them

The available question generator uses business details, services and competitor context to suggest possibilities. Phii can help explain why a few are worth considering. A suggestion still needs your judgement: is it a real customer concern, is the location right and does the wording match the offer? Choose a useful set rather than accepting every variation.

03

Keep research and measurement separate

Saving a question establishes what you want to track. It does not mean an AI platform has answered it or that a paid audit has run. Use the app’s audit flow to review the check and cost. Afterwards, return to the actual responses to see what those selected questions revealed and whether the set needs refining.

From understanding to action.

01

Explain the business

Confirm your services, customers, locations and the kind of enquiry you want. Correct missing or outdated context before generating questions.

02

Explore possible questions

Use suggestions as a starting point. Include natural ways customers might ask about a provider, a problem or a decision.

03

Choose what to track

Review the wording and save the questions you want. Keep discovery questions distinct from questions that explicitly name your brand.

04

Check the resulting answers

Run the appropriate audit when ready, then inspect coverage and answer evidence. Refine the set when your business priorities change.

A few things
you might ask.

Is a prompt the same as a keyword?

A prompt is a question or request someone gives an AI tool. A keyword is a search phrase used in a different research context. They can express the same need without having the same measurement.

Will the suggestions show exact prompt search volume?

Do not treat generated question suggestions as a measured count of how often people ask them. They help you choose relevant checks; they are not a census of AI users.

Does adding a question spend an audit credit?

Adding a tracked question and starting a paid audit are separate actions. Review the audit’s price and confirmation flow when you want fresh answers.

Can changing questions affect the score?

Yes, a different question set changes what the audit measures. Keep that context when comparing results, and use comparable checks when assessing progress.
